more Dresher-Reiss

In Vladimir Kulikov’s class last week there was a match between team Dresher and team Reiss about whether contrast does (Dresher) or does not (Reiss) impact phonological computation.
We are enough to feel like we want to continue the debate, and that will be tomorrow (Tuesday) in the middle afternoon slot (3:00-4:15) in a room on floor 1.
We will discuss a response that E. Dresher has sent over the week-end, addressing the issues that were discussed in the previous class.

Call for the Open Podium

Hi everyone!

As announced by Tobias at the starting meeting, also in Banja Luka we’re going to have the traditional Open Podium, where participants will have the opportunity to present their work to their peers, exchanging ideas, asking for suggestions and discussing any topics in linguistics we may want to talk about.
Both works-in-progress and completed papers are welcome, and ideally we would like to have 3 or 4 sessions, with 3-4 presentations each. Each speaker would be allocated a 15-20 minute slot (including, say, 5 min for discussion), so to fit into a 1-hour session. The time that seems to be more convenient is around 6:45 pm, in order to have time to come back to the dorms after the last class is over, relax, take a shower etc. and then go for dinner at a not-too-late time after the Open Podium session is finished.

So, be dare and be bold and submit your  proposal  for the Open Podium!

Please send your (short) abstract with title, name and affiliation to antonio.civardi@unige.it, benz.johanna@web.de and j.mursell@gmail.com, we’ll collect the proposals, arrange a schedule and announce it on this the mailing list and on the Facebook page.

Deadline: Friday, 23:59! The sessions will take place next week.
